Finding a rental, with someone on your side.

By Hasan Boz, REALTOR® · English & Türkçe · Türkçe okuyun

Searching for a rental in Metro Vancouver can feel like a full-time job — especially if you're new to the city or the country. As a licensed real estate professional and REALTOR®, I can represent you as a tenant and help you find the right home.

How I help tenants

To be clear about my role: I represent tenants in finding a home. I do not provide property management services — collecting rent, managing repairs, or managing units on behalf of landlords — which require a separate licence in British Columbia.

Your rights as a tenant in BC — the essentials

For full and current rules, the Residential Tenancy Branch at gov.bc.ca/landlordtenant is the official source.

Avoiding rental scams

Never send money before you've viewed the unit in person and confirmed that the person renting it actually has the right to. Be wary of prices far below the market, pressure to pay quickly, or a "landlord" who is conveniently out of the country. This is one of the most practical reasons to have a licensed professional on your side.

A different lens · Construction know-how

When you view a rental, it helps to look past the fresh paint. Signs of moisture, poor ventilation, or heating that won't keep up in January are easy to miss on a sunny afternoon — and they're the things that will shape your life in that home every day.
