Many homes here were built in the 1980s and '90s — and some homes from roughly 1985 to 1997 were plumbed with polybutylene ("Poly-B") piping. Some insurers restrict coverage or require replacement, so it's one of the first things worth confirming on a home of that era, before it becomes a surprise at the insurance stage.
